How to withdraw:

If your kid(s) most recent schooling was in a Texas public school, you will need to withdraw him/her. You can do this by sending a letter or email to the school/ district OR by signing a withdraw form for the school. This is true even in the summer. So if you decide in June that you want to homeschool, you still need to go through the withdraw process.

Schools legally have a right to ask if you are planning to homeschool. This is so that the school doesn't have to claim the student as a drop-out. They do NOT have the legal right to ask you to see your curriculum, threaten you, or demand that you enroll in an "accredited program."  As a matter of fact, the Texas Education Agency does not recognize any "accredited programs" as being such, unless the school is a public school.

Never enrolled in public school in Texas before:

If your kid(s) have never attended a public school in Texas, you are ready to begin homeschooling! There is no organization to inform of your decision and no agency to report to.
