How to get started

  1. Plan and Prepare

    1. Research

    2. Discuss with your family what you want

    3. Write down on paper your ideas:
      What are your goals?
      What do you want for and from your children?
      What is important to you and your family?
      What do you definitely NOT want.

    4. Review with other stakeholders (spouse, parent, children)

    5. Make a plan

  2. Try it out

    1. Withdraw your kid(s)

    2. Consider deschooling while you set up household expectations

    3. Try out your plan for 1-3 months.

    4. If something is a disaster, drop it or replace it with something else

  3.  Review and change.

    1. When you hit the end of your 1-3 month trial, review how it went.

      1. What worked and what didn’t

      2. What you want to dump, add, or change

      3. When you will review it again

      4. Just like riding a bike, experience will make you better.
